Body contouring procedures are often required by male patients following successful and significant weight loss. While this body improvement is great news in many respects, unfortunately it can result in:
Excess saggy skin
Intertrigo under the skin folds (rashes)
Striae (stretch marks)
Exercising alone will not address these changes and patients often require surgery to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing shape.
Mr Akhavani has extensive experience in all types of male body contouring surgery, and has recently written a chapter on the subject in the upcoming Oxford Textbook of Plastic Surgery.
The surgeries he offers include:
• Thigh lift
• Arm lift
Contouring Consultation, Surgery and Recovery
During your consultation Mr Akhavani will assess your medical history and carry out a physical examination in order to ascertain your suitability for the procedure. He will also clearly explain any potential risks and complications, and ensure you have a realistic outlook on what can be achieved through the surgery.
Male body contouring surgery is often carried out in stages in order to achieve the best outcome, and most procedures are carried out under general anaesthesia.
The duration of the surgery is dependent on the type of surgery selected and it’s common for patients to stay at least one night in hospital before being discharged home. You’ll then need to attend follow-up appointments in the outpatient clinic to ensure a smooth recovery.
You’ll need to take 2 weeks off work, and will be able to resume light exercise 6 weeks after the operation. It typically takes 9 to 12 months before the full benefit of the surgery is realised.
